Work

I work for BreakFree Resorts & Holidays, as an inhouse DBA and Systems Developer. I’m responsible for the PostgreSQL and Oracle Databases that we run for our inhouse applications. BreakFree Resorts & Holidays were recently purchased/taken over by MFS.

I’m currently supposed to be performing 2 roles at BreakFree. Primarily I am a developer, but I am transitioning to the DBA role over the coming months. I’m already responsible for the Oracle and PostgreSQL databases that we run, along with the servers that they run on, but I dont get time to give them the attention they need, which is why I say “I am supposed to be performing 2 roles”.

BreakFree manage and operate over 40 resorts along the east cost of Australia, with recent expansion into New Zealand. The recent acquisition of BreakFree by MFS gives us the oportunity to accelerate our growth plans, however this also increases the amount of development that they dream up for us. At least I know that they are not going to run out of work for me :)
